How to play on PC and mobile Controls published for this game.

PC controls

  • The itch page does not publish a custom key list.
  • The game is made with Ren’Py. In that engine, a click or Enter usually advances the text, and choices are on-screen buttons. That is engine behavior, not a control card written by Part.
  • Click Play, then click the frame before you rely on the keyboard.
  • The official walkthrough is in the devlog if you want to avoid the jumpscare ending on purpose.

Mobile and other devices

  • The itch page does not say the HTML5 build is phone-friendly.
  • Downloads beside it are a Windows zip (GAVRIL-1.0-pc.zip, 110 MB) and a Mac zip (GAVRIL-1.0-mac.zip, 105 MB).
  • There is no Android or iOS package on the listing we checked.
  • Ren’Py can be clicked through, but this page will not promise a touch layout the creator did not list.

Short horror visual novels

Gavril is Part’s short horror visual novel about waking up alone to a crash downstairs and having to survive the thing that caused it. The creator calls it more satirical than scary, and the itch page says all six endings take about 15 to 20 minutes.

A crash downstairs, and a week-long first game

The itch text puts you alone in the house. A loud crash downstairs wakes you. A pet or a sibling would be a comforting explanation, and then you could go back to sleep. You live entirely alone, so you have to check. The goal line is to survive an encounter with a home intruder whose characteristics are beyond your comprehension. The creator’s label for the tone is “more satirical than scary,” and the tags match a short thriller more than a long campaign: creepy, dark, horror, multiple endings, Ren’Py, short, spooky, storygame, thriller.

Part writes that this was a first game project, made in a week, and that they did not plan substantial updates. Gavril is a major character from the creator’s story BUBO, which they have said they want to make more games for. A 11 March 2024 note on the page says a second chapter was planned after all. A 21 November 2024 note says the sequel was delayed because it needed more time. This page does not treat chapter 2 as released.

Playtime on the page is 15 to 20 minutes, more or less, to see all 6 endings. The average-session field was left blank, so the 15-to-20-minute sentence is the number to trust. Genres are visual novel and interactive fiction. Made with Ren’Py. Platform: HTML5. Status: Released. Price: name your own price. The page says no generative AI was used. On 29 September 2026 the score shown was 4.7 from 971 ratings, and the listing’s update time was 16 September 2026.

Six endings from the creator’s walkthrough

The walkthrough people search for is the creator’s own devlog, “GAVRIL Walkthrough.” These are the conditions as that post states them, not a fan reconstruction. Ending 1, Instant Death: go back to sleep after you wake up, and stay still and silent once you are downstairs. Both parts are required. Ending 2, Delayed Fate: refuse to untie Gavril, or watch him show his goo tricks. Ending 3, Ravenous: refuse to feed Gavril. The creator marks this one with a jumpscare warning.

Ending 4, Robbed: offer Gavril fruit, and keep jabbing at his family issues. Both parts are required. Ending 5, Farewell, is the good ending: don’t do the things listed above. The bonus ending, Love?, stays on the good-ending route and adds three conditions: call out to Gavril at the start, compliment his tail, and offer him cheese. The page’s content warnings, separate from that jumpscare flag, are loud sounds, strong language, death scenes, and a jumpscare.

  • Instant Death: sleep again, then stay still and silent downstairs.
  • Delayed Fate: refuse to untie him, or watch the goo tricks.
  • Ravenous: refuse to feed him. Jumpscare warning.
  • Robbed: offer fruit and press him about his family.
  • Farewell: avoid the choices that cause the endings above.
  • Love?: Farewell route, plus call out at the start, compliment the tail, and offer cheese.

Credits, extras, and the frame

Music is by Lei Hart. Sound effects are from freesound.org and Zapsplat.com. The browser file this page loads is the inline itch embed, html-classic.itch.zone/html/8087042/index.html, at 888 by 500. The itch page shows that frame directly, so it was built to sit in a page, not only in a popup.

Later devlogs on the same project are outside the game: a 12 May 2024 post about the YouTube short “PUNK RAT POISON,” and an October 2025 note about a Gavril plush opening for preorder. Those are creator posts, not scenes inside the 15-minute game. The walkthrough devlog remains the one that lists the six endings. Social links on the game page point at the creator’s Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

What to do on a first pass

If you want the good ending blind, the creator’s negative conditions are the useful map: don’t go back to sleep, don’t freeze and stay silent downstairs, don’t refuse to untie him, don’t sit through the goo tricks, don’t refuse food, and don’t combine fruit with pushing on his family. Farewell is what is left. Love? is Farewell plus the three friendly beats. If you want the jumpscare, the creator points at Ravenous and at the walkthrough as the way to avoid it.

Nothing on the page describes a combat system, an inventory puzzle, or a fail state beyond those ending branches. It is a short Ren’Py scene with choices. Dead Plate players will not find a work shift here. The overlap is the length and the horror tag, plus a published ending list, which Gavril actually has and many of the longer games on this site do not.

Gavril FAQ

How many endings does Gavril have?

Six. The itch description says “all 6 endings,” and the creator’s walkthrough names Instant Death, Delayed Fate, Ravenous, Robbed, Farewell, and the bonus ending Love?.

How do I get the good ending?

Farewell is the good ending: avoid the choices that trigger the other endings. Love? uses that same route and also asks you to call out to Gavril at the start, compliment his tail, and offer cheese.

Which ending has the jumpscare?

The creator’s walkthrough marks Ravenous, the ending where you refuse to feed Gavril, with a jumpscare warning. The page’s general warnings also list a jumpscare, loud sounds, strong language, and death scenes.

How long is Gavril?

The itch page says 15 to 20 minutes of gameplay, more or less, to see all six endings.

Is chapter 2 out?

The page’s own updates say a second chapter was planned in March 2024 and delayed in November 2024. The listing we checked still describes the original short game, not a released sequel.

Is there an official phone version?

The itch platforms line says HTML5. The extra files are a 110 MB Windows zip and a 105 MB Mac zip. The page does not list Android or iOS.
